Description
Live the Tast de Primavera experience together with a visit to Celler Bàrbara Forés!
Celler Bàrbara Forés offers a unique experience, offering a special tasting at La Sendroseta estate, the plot where Abrisa’t Garnacha Blanca grows, in the middle of spring coinciding with Easter.
Tast de Primavera is a unique proposal for wine and nature lovers. Surrounded by small farms of vineyards, olive and almond trees and the mountains of Els Ports as guardians, you will enter the beauty of the Mediterranean landscape. You will walk through La Sendroseta, a small estate where our Garnacha Blanca, the emblematic variety of Terra Alta, grows and with which we make a very special wine: Abrisa’t. A walk with which they will recover from oblivion the brisados wines and will surrender to the contemplation of the landscape while tasting five wines and their extra virgin olive oil. The tour will end with a visit to the winery, a 19th century manor house in the center of Gandesa.
Bàrbara Forés means, therefore, respect and tradition in winemaking, handed down from generation to generation for over a hundred years in her ancestral home.
In the 1990s, Carmen and Manolo took the reins of the winery and bet on a change of paradigm, becoming pioneers in the winemaking in Terra AltaThe Garnacha Blanca was the backbone of the winery, starting a change in the way of understanding wine in the area.
In 2014 Pili Sanmartín Ferrer, sixth generation since Bàrbara Forés, joined the family winery. A new look that establishes dialogues between wine, culture, arts, landscape and everything related to everyday life. Over time they have learned to value the potential of the territory, the dignity of work in the fields and the importance of the landscape in their daily work. Committed with eyes closed to the land they inhabit.
In a small project like yours, the human team is fundamental. Much of the work in the fields is done manually and by hand, as the winegrowers of this country have always done.
Agroecology is the cornerstone of their approach, allowing them to be unique in a globalized world. Beyond the organic certification granted: Catalan Council of Organic Agricultural Production(CCPAE), whose main objective is to recover the fertility of the soil, using organic fertilizers of proximity and treatments based on sulfur and copper, following the lunar calendar in agricultural and winery work. In addition, they work with spontaneous vegetation layers and reduce tillage to protect the soil, increase biodiversity and optimize non-renewable resources such as water and fuels.
The Terra Alta to which this winery belongs, from a bird’s eye view is transformed into a Mediterranean agricultural mosaic. A dry landscape that passes through vineyards, olive trees, cereal fields, patches of forest and dry stone walls that offers so much beauty and, at the same time, favors biodiversity. The vineyards, spread throughout the Gandesa area, are cared for in harmony with the landscape and with an agro-ecological approach.
We suggest you to taste the wines from the very vineyards where they are grown and continue the visit in their winery. In the center of Gandesa, the winery is located, a manor house of the 19th century. A space remodeled to the current needs of the winemaking world without losing sight of the wisdom of their ancestors. The experience consists of a guided tour to learn firsthand how the DO Terra Alta wines they produce were made and how they are made today.
