Description

Understanding wine as an essential element in our daily life: this is its philosophy. Celler Masroig opens its doors and reveals its secrets.

With more than 100 years of history,
Celler Masroig
maintains the essence and personality of the first day and accompanies it with the knowledge and innovation of the present. Founded in the year 1917, it is, at present, one of the referents of the Denomination of Origin Montsant, in the region of the Priorat.

Celler Masroig opens its doors to you. Visit them and walk through the 100 years of history of their winery, from the old subway tanks dating from 1917 to the new barrel cellar. They offer a tour through a culture of vineyards that for generations has lived thanks to the effort and work of the people of the village.

Celler Masroig wants to share with you the pleasure of tasting a good wine and help you understand how and why wine is a product that arouses passions. The tour ends with a guided tasting of three of our wines and a tasting of our extra virgin olive oil.

Its objective is to produce a good product without neglecting respect for tradition and to show its own defining character. They work with persistence and conviction on the red clay to transmit the values on which the personality of the winery is based.

This soil, predominant in the area, influences the quality of the grapes. The light reflected by the red soil on the grapes contributes effectively to the ripening process of the fruit.

Garnacha and Cariñena (Mazuela) are the autochthonous grape varieties of the area. Although both are protagonists of our territory, at Celler Masroig we understand Cariñena as the base of our wines. The years are good for Cariñena, and the older it gets, the more spirit accompanies it. As he gets older, he understands that being ambitious is for the young and with wisdom he learns to concentrate better on the small details. And what is good is long overdue.

The will of the Celler Masroig team is to share these sensations that make them feel so full and committed to the territory, with whom we have always established an emotional bond that is reflected in the work done.

Vineyards and olive groves outline the landscape, which is terraced by the characteristic dry stone terraces. The work of the winegrowers contributes to maintain the beauty of a unique environment where wine and oil are the elements of identity. These two millenary crops occupy approximately 500 hectares of its territory.
