The Albariño Festival
From July 29th to August 2nd, 2026, Cambados —the world capital of Albariño— celebrates its Festa do Albariño, recognised as a Festival of International Tourist Interest and one of the oldest food-and-wine celebrations in Spain. Its origins date back to 1953, when two winemaking friends competed to see who could craft the best Albariño. That informal wager grew into a festival that today brings together thousands of people amid tastings, music, parades and open-air dances.
The heart of the event is the Wine Tunnel (Túnel do Viño): a professional tasting space where, guided by sommeliers, visitors can sample dozens of wines from D.O. Rías Baixas wineries in a single place. It’s the best way to understand why Albariño captivates so many, appreciating the difference between a valley wine and one grown closer to the sea, or between a young vintage and one aged on its lees.
